Toby Witte

Toby Witte is the Principal of Wittehaus, an award-winning modern architecture firm based in the Carolinas. Born in Peru and raised in Germany, Toby brings over 25 years of international experience in design, drafting, construction, and building science to his work.

A graduate of the David R. Ravin School of Architecture at UNC Charlotte, Toby previously led design/build companies Dialect Design and Qube11 before founding Wittehaus in 2017. His practice is dedicated to creating modern, energy-efficient, detail-driven homes that enhance everyday life.

Toby is the author of Supersizing Bliss, an award-winning book exploring how design choices affect happiness in our homes. His work has been featured in Dwell, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Top 200 Residential Architects. He is also an active lecturer, keynote speaker, and board member of the Green Built Alliance.

When not designing, Toby enjoys family life with his wife, three daughters, and four cats — as well as cooking, travelling, reading, and playing guitar (two chords at a time).
