Chris Bennett

Christopher Bennett is the founder of Tau Group, a consulting practice focused on improving the clarity, coordination, and performance of construction specifications—particularly in Division 03 (Concrete) and Division 01 (General Requirements). With a background in cryptologic linguistics and a career that spans architecture, engineering, and construction administration, Chris brings a rare blend of technical fluency and communication precision to the AEC industry.

He is best known for his work redefining how concrete specifications are written and understood, helping to launch the Refined Concrete Finishing Specification in collaboration with the National Concrete Refinement Institute (NCRI). Through this work, Chris has helped architects, engineers, contractors, and owners move away from vague spec language toward measurable, field-verifiable benchmarks that reduce RFIs, change orders, and costly rework.

Chris frequently consults on complex projects where performance, sustainability, and finish quality intersect. His mission: eliminate ambiguity, elevate the craft of construction documentation, and empower teams to build with confidence.
